Full Screen and tsclient

When using tsclient, a remote desktop/terminal services/vnc client, if you connect in full screen mode to a server it can be difficult to disconnect or switch to another application because there is no ‘control bar’ at the top.

To toggle full screen mode, use the key combination Ctrl+Alt+Enter.

Ubuntu Backup

I backed up Mom’s Ubuntu configuration by following the How to Backup and Restore your System thread on the Ubuntu Forum; http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=81311&highlight=backup

The backup file is located in root and is ~1.8 GB in size.  I’ll leave it on the system and hopefully copy it to an external (USB) HD for DVD burning.

Google Safe Browsing for Firefox

This is something I should look into for mom.

Found out about this via CNET article.

Google already has an extension for Firefox.

Ubuntu Network Troubleshooting| Can’t Access Internet | Solution

Problem: Couldn’t access internet using new Belkin wireless nic

Solution: Disable the internal (wired) ethernet connection when using the wireless nic and vise versa.

Overview: After a lot of pinging, route -n, etc., I finally figured out why I couldn’t access the internet. The problem was due to both the wireless and internal nic being active at the same time. Although the thread didn’t help in this specific issue, see the Ubuntu Forum for some good network diagnostic info.
